Endocrine & Breast Surgery DEPARTMENT

Endocrine Surgery is a rapidly developing branch of Medical Science which deals with the surgical diseases of the Hormone secreting glands of the body.  The Department of Endocrine & Breast Surgery at Sahara Hospital established in 2010. The department offers expert, comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for diseases of the Thyroid, Breast, Parathyroid, Adrenal, and Endocrine pancreas and complex multiple endocrine Neoplasia (MEN) syndrome cases.  The department also offers treatment of salivary gland tumors and Diabetic Foot diseases.

The services offered by the department are:

Thyroid diseases: One stop set up for all thyroid disorders including hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism and surgical intervention for benign and cancerous goiters. We perform both conventional open thyroid surgeries and endoscopic thyroid surgeries as per indications.

Breast diseases: The department offers comprehensive care for Breast cancer & benign breast pathologies. We perform conservative breast surgery & oncoplastic breast procedures for breast cancers, breast augmentation and cosmetic corrective procedures. Chemotherapy port insertions and administration of Chemotherapy in the adjuvant, neo-adjuvant and metastatic settings is done as a part of comprehensive breast cancer care. Male breast enlargement (gynecomastia) and breast problems in lactating mothers are also treated by us.

Parathyroid disorders:  Treatment of hyperparathyroidism (raised calcium levels) in the sporadic and familial settings. Both open and minimally invasive parathyroid surgeries are performed.

Adrenal gland disorders: Adrenal tumors viz. Pheochromocytomas, Cushing/s syndrome, Conn/s syndrome, Myelolipoma, non-functioning adrenal lesions and Adrenal cancers are taken care of under one roof. Both open and laparoscopic is performed for the same.

Diabetic Foot Care: We provide comprehensive diabetic foot treatment for advanced diabetic foot infections with a limb salvaging approach. Patients are provided a multi-modality treatment with a combined team approach involving the department Endocrinology & Vascular surgery.  

Neuro-endocrine tumors of Pancreas: Treatment of Endocrine pancreatic diseases like Insulinoma’s, Glucagonomas, Somatostatinomas, VIPoma’s and non-functioning the pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours is done in the department.

Salivary Gland tumors, other neck lumps & carcinoid tumors: The department utilizes numerous high-technology instruments and gadgets for diagnosis and treatment of endocrine & breast surgical patients. Some of these include: Integrated operating suite equipped with high-definition laparoscopic surgical optics, intra-operative ultrasonography machine, and intra-operative parathyroid hormone monitoring and fluoroscopy guidance for venous access and indwelling venous access ports (chemo-port) implantation and a wide array of conventional and newer surgical instruments and gadgets.  

The department attracts large numbers of referrals from various parts of Uttar Pradesh, along with adjoining states of Bihar, Jharkand, Madhya Pradesh and neighboring countries like Nepal & Bangladesh for complex Endocrine cases and Breast cancer.
