The department of laboratory medicine has been envisaged to provide excellent ultramodern laboratory facilities 24X7 to patients availing services of this hospital, samples received from outside hospitals, and walk in patients along with home sample collection facility. The laboratory is accredited with NABL since 2012. Four faculty members, 43 paramedical staff and 4 supportive staff constitute the manpower of the department.

The department is also engaged with training and teaching of B.Sc. (MLT), M.Sc. (MLT &Microbiology), DMLT, B.Tech (Biotechnology), B.Sc (Nursing) students. The Department has 75 state of art major equipments. Presently, the department is performing approximately 1500 test parameters per day.

More than 40 Research papers are being published from the department in various national and international journals of high repute and faculty members of the department also presented their work in various national and international conferences.

Major sections of the Department:

Histopathology and Cytology: Provides routine diagnostic and specialized histopathology as well Immunohistochemistry services. A major fraction of the specimens involves Neuropathology, Oncopathology, Gastropathology, and Gynaepathology apart from broad spectrum of all diseases. Frozen section facility is also run by the department. Body fluid cytology, Pap smear and liquid based cytology facilities are also available.

Hematology & Clinical pathology: All the routine and specialized tests are being carried out on fully automated 7-part hematology cell counters, automated coagulation analyzer, automated ESR analyzer , fully automated semen analyzer, urine analyzer, etc. There is facility of advanced coagulation studies, electrophoresis with immunofixation etc. Bone marrow aspiration and biopsy facility for diagnosis of various hematological disorders and malignancies is also available.

Flow cytometry: Flow cytometer is functional with the facilities of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Immunophenotyping, PNH Screening, Stem cell Count, Lymphocyte subset enumeration etc.

Biochemistry Section: Providing all routine and high end investigations, including therapeutic drug monitoring, Blood gas analysis, HbA1C estimation, Thalassemia screening, Immunonephelometric tests etc on fully automated analyzers.

Immunology Section: Provides wide range of hormone estimation, tumor markers, infectious serology and Immunofluorescence assays for autoimmune diseases.
