PULMONOLOGY DEPARTMENT

DEPT OF PULMONARY MEDICINE offers high quality health care and tertiary care facilities for chest diseases like Asthma , Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, TB esp. Multi-Drug Resistant, Lung Cancer, Interstitial (ILD) Lung Disease, Lung infections like pneumonia, Lung Abscess, Empyema and sleep related disorders, Ovid and Post Covid complication.

 

The department consists of an expert team of renowned Pulmonologists. 

Dr. Alok Srivastava (M.D.) (Pulmonary Medicine, EDRM (European Diploma in Respiratory Medicine).Dr. Alok Srivastava has done MD (Tuberculosis and Respiratory diseases) from G.S.V.M.Medical College, Kanpur. Senior Resident ship in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care: L.R.S Institute, New Delhi, Present day National Tuberculosis Institute, under mentorship of Dr. Anand Jaiswal for 3yrs.teaching experience of 3 yrs National Tuberculosis Institute New Dehli.Worked as Junior Consultant at Metro Hospital Noida under Dr Deepak Talwar.Worked as Consultant at Fortis Hospital Noida.joined Sahara Hospital in 2008 as a Consultant in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care and continuing till date. He is well versed with Critical Care, Bronchoscopy, Tube Thoracostomy, Thoracoscopy, Interventional Pulmonology, and Sleep Medicine.

 

Dr. Manoj Agarwal (M.D.), FCCS (USA).He has done MD (Tuberculosis & Respiratory diseases from GSVM Medical college, Kanpur. Senior Resident ship in pulmonary medicine and critical care from GSMV Medical College, Kanpur and from RBTB Hospital, Delhi, which is the best hospital in Asia for tuberculosis. Working in Sahara Hospital since 2011in pulmonary medicine and critical care department and continuing till date. He is well versed with all tuberculosis pulmonary medicine as Bronchoscopy, Thoracoscopy and Sleep Medicine.

 

Dr. Shilpi Sahai (M.D.,DNB)  (Pulmonary Medicine) European Diploma in Respiratory Medicine. She has done her MBBS, MD from King George Medical University, Lucknow and has 17 years of experience in the field of respiratory medicine and critical care and Worked as a Junior Consultant in MAX Hospital in the department of critical care for 1year.Joined Sahara Hospital in 2009 and presently working as senior consultant in the department of pulmonary medicine and critical care. She is well versed in managing critically ill patients and has special interest in Interventional Pulmonolgy .She has expertise in Bronchoscopic Biopsy, Thoracoscopy, Tube Thoracoscopy and Sleep Medicine.BRONCHOSCOPY UNIT. Dept has state of art Bronchoscopy armed with OLYMPUS EVIS EXERA II VIDEOBRONCHOSCOPES and TE2 and PE2 FIBREOPTIC BRONCHOSCOPES.

·         To access lung parenchyma in INTERSTITIAL LUNG DISEASE,

·         To evaluate HAEMOPTYSIS

·         To evaluate NON RESOLVING PNEUMONIA

·         To remove thick and tenacious mucus plugs

·         To evaluate and remove foreign bodies

·         To diagnose and stage LUNG CANCER

·         To access mediastinal lymph nodes for SECONDARIES 

 

The special NBI (narrow band imaging) incorporated in videobronchoscopes allows for enhanced resolution of the mucosa and submucosa of the bronchus. (Inner lining of air tubes) To aid early detection of malignancy , thus significantly contributes to quality of assessment and specific management.


VIRTUAL BRONCHOSCOPY by bronchial reconstruction in 3 dimensions is made possible by 128 slice CT scan. Triple Rule out Sequence incorporated in CT scan allows for simultaneous cardiac angiography, orthography and pulmonary angiography, which give an accurate cardiopulmonary vasculature assessment, required in PAH and pulmonary embolism.

 

PULMONARY FUNCTION TEST (PFT) +DIFFUSION STUDY

GHANSHORN Power cube diffusion for assessment of pulmonary pharyngeal abnormalities and airways disease.

 

MANAGEMENT OF MULTI DRUG RESISTANT AND XDR TB based on culture sensitivity of AFB and resistance profile.

 

INTERVENTIONAL PULMONOLOGY, Facilities of lung biopsy, pleural biopsy, CT and USG guided FNAC, Pleural aspiration, Pleurodesis, throracostomy and ICD.

 

MEDICAL ICU fully equipped 12 bedded with most advanced facilities for cardiopulmonary monitoring and invasive and non invasive ventilation and management of critical diseases.HDU to step down from MICU with all requirements, monitoring of critical care patient. Stable patient may be shifted to General Ward, Semi Private Ward or Private Ward.
