Cardiac Surgery DEPARTMENT

The cardio thoracic surgery department is the leaders in Cardiac Surgical Care in private sector in this part of the country. This has one consultant Dr. Vishal Srivastava with highly experienced cardiac surgery team.

Cardiac Anesthesia critical team is headed by Dr. Deepankar Sehgal. He is well trained in his field in private sector of Lucknow. We have also one of the most experts per fusionist Mr. K.N.Singh.

The department has performed more than hundred cardiac surgeries till date with 99% success rate.

CARDIAOTHORACIC SURGERY unit is equipped with modern facilities, equipment and systems like: two Operation Theatres (OTs) with laminar air flow that eliminates the chances of infection.

Intensive Care Units (ICUs) under the charge of critical care specialist that has a ratio of one nurse for every ICU patient, High-tech systems for Imaging, Radiology and Pathology Testing. Sophisticated Information Technology systems enable better efficiency and greater patient convenience. Over 100 Cardiac Surgical Procedures have been done in last 1 year with success rate of Cardiac Procedures is 99.6%, Infection Rate of less than 0.3% which is at par the international level. Other Convenient support facilities such as: Cafeterias, Round the clock Pharmacy are available.

Services & Procedures

Cardiothoracic & vascular surgery involves the treatment of diseases affecting organs inside the chest (thorax) including treatment of conditions of the heart (heart disease), lungs (lung disease) and vascular problems (trauma, abnormal blockage and dilatation).

Key Procedures

Beating heart Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (OPCABG).

A form of heart surgery that redirects blood around blocked arteries to increase blood flow and oxygen to the heart. This offers patients faster post-operative recovery with fewer complications.

Beating Heart Surgery Coronary Bypass Surgeries are performed using contemporary techniques including the off-pump bypass. Over 98% of the surgeries are "off-pump" or "beating heart" surgeries. In off-pump or beating heart surgery, the heart-lung machine is not used. The surgeon uses advanced operating equipment to stabilize portions of the heart and bypass the blocked artery in a highly controlled operative environment. Meanwhile, the rest of the heart keeps pumping and circulating blood to the body. This offers patients faster post-operative recovery and extracts less of a toll on their systems.

Our cardiac surgeons have great expertise and experience with OPCABG surgeries. They can handle critically ill patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction, diffusely diseased vessels, associated morbidities such as renal disease, compromised lung function or other coexisting diseases.

Heart Valve Surgery

Specialized surgery which is performed for the treatment of vascular abnormalities like Mitral stenosis (MS)(a vascular heart disease which results in the tightening, causing blockage of blood flow through the mitral valve, from the left atrium into the left ventricle of the heart), mitral Regurgitation (MR) a vascular heart disease which results in abnormal leaking of blood through the mitral valve, from the left ventricle into the left atrium of the heart) or Aortic Stenosis (a condition where the aortic valve becomes narrower than normal, impeding the flow of blood and aortic regurgitation are routinely performed. For these condition valve repair & valve replacement by mechanical & Biological valves are done.

Pediatric Cardiac Surgery

Pediatric Cardiology deals with heart conditions in babies, children and adolescents. Structural, functional, and rhythm-related problems of the heart are dealt with a high degree of success. Some of the procedures performed by our Pediatric Cardiac Surgeons include Atrial Septal Defect & Ventricular Septal Defect.

Thoracic Surgery

Extensive and challenging thoracic procedures (lung, esophagus, etc.) are undertaken by our team of thoracic surgeons with the best results. These include operations for removal of malignancies from the lung and esophagus. They also perform minimally invasive procedures on the lung and esophagus as well as VATS (Video-assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery)

Vascular surgery

Carotid artery surgery for blockage of neck vessel causing stroke and CVA. Injury, Aneurysm of aorta and peripheral vessels are dealt with expertise with very fine results.

Chest trauma, vascular injuries and Emergency Cardiac Surgery are also treated with good results.

Newer techniques available here are

·         Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery This technique involves operating upon the coronary artery through a small 3-4 inch incision on the side of the chest. It encourages rapid recovery and leaves behind a very small scar. ALL Valve surgeries, ASD closure are also performed through this technique.

·         Port Access Surgery Commonly referred to as the "Key Hole Surgery", is used for Valve replacement, CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft) and some congenital heart defects.

·         Total Arterial Revascularization in CABG to provide long-term patency of graft. According to need, we do total arterial revascularization of the heart off-pump with varying configurations of arterial conduits such as left/right internal mammary arteries, radial arteries, and gastro-epiploic arteries individualized to requirements

·         Surgeries for treatment of complications caused by the dilatation of the aorta (aortic aneurysm), problems caused by irregular heart beat (arrhythmias - such as atrial fibrillation) and other less common conditions are performed.

Cardio thoracic ICU

To support the operation theatres are intensive care units providing critical care and constant monitoring for the post-operative patients. The hospital follows a well-laid out "Progressive Patient Care System", wherein the patient moves from one level of critical care to another depending upon the level of care required.

The Centers have dedicated Cardio thoracic ICUs with one to one nursing ratio round the clock. They are well equipped with bedside monitor, color Doppler, echocardiography system, continuous oxygen supply, infusion pumps, defibrillator, ventilators, invasive as well as non-invasive pressure monitoring systems, temporary pace maker (transversal as well as transvenous), intra aortic balloon pump, ABG (Blood Gas machine) and electrolytes analysis machines. Round the clock vigil by intensives and senior anesthesia doctor guides the management.
